When do you think the next UK general election will be?

Last night, MPs passed a bill through the House of Commons designed to take a no deal Brexit off the table.

The PM then tried to force a general election.

For this to succeed he would have needed a two thirds majority in the House of Commons – as set out by the Fixed-term Parliament Act 2011.

This was rejected with opposition parties saying that although they do want a general election, they do not want one on the PM's terms.

There are still other routes that either side could use to force a general election. The government could try to pass a bill which goes around the Fixed-term Parliaments Act. Or the opposition could call a vote of no confidence.

Whatever happens it is looking increasingly likely that we will go to the polls sometime soon.

When do you think the next general election will be? And on whose terms will it be called?
